It is important to stay mindful when tracking your parcel or receiving one from a delivery agent! Fraudsters are finding new ways of tricking customers into giving away their hard-earned money.

Here’s how the courier fraud happens:

  • Sometimes, when you are expecting a parcel/package and want to track the order, instead of typing the official website address, you simply search the courier contact details online. In some cases, you land up on a fake website and end up calling a fraud number! After contacting them, they send you a fake payment/.apk link which contains a virus, allowing them to get access to your phone and messages.
  • Another way is when the fraudster acts as the courier person, he/she asks you to pay delivery charges to RECEIVE your courier and sends you a fake payment link/.apk link.

Here’s how you can stay safe:

  • To visit the courier partner’s website, type out the complete URL in the browser instead of simply searching it online. E.g. www.delivery.com
  • Do not click on links received from unknown sources/sender IDs. They could lead to fake websites!
  • Think twice before sharing any sensitive details like OTP, PIN, Card details, etc.
