In villages or rural areas, many people are facing problems relating to their property due to lost paperwork, unclear boundaries, and endless property disputes. The Government of India has launched a scheme called SVAMITVA - Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas. This scheme is a central sector scheme of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj to provide property owners in rurally inhabited ("Abadi") areas with surveyed property records.
