Listening to your favourite music is delightful because it is harmonious. Harmony is a thing that makes small things grow; while its absence leaves them to decay. When this harmony comes to your home, it brings peace, wealth, and prosperity along with it.
Maintaining positive and negative energies is key to bring harmony in your home. The ancient Indian science of architecture, Vastu Shastra is guiding people on managing these energies within houses.

What is Vastu Shastra?

The literal meaning of Vastu Shastra is ‘science of architecture.’ Vastu Shastra was originated around 6000 BC. It is a mystic science that provides guidelines to use directions to enhance the positive energy in the house. By giving the laws of construction of houses, Vastu Shastra establishes a link between man and nature.

Vaastu Shastra focuses on providing inhabitants of any building, a house, or an office, with prosperity and health. Thus, it involves enhancing the positive energy as well as removing the negative energy from any construction. Simply said, Vaastu Shastra functions in a way to make a harmonious environment, which is tuned with all-natural forces.

Origination of Vastu Shastra

The origination of Vastu Shastra is traced back to Hindu Mythology when Lord Brahma asked Vishwakarma to develop guidelines for the construction of buildings. Vishwakarma, the architect of god, developed an architectural system following five great elements, namely fire, air, water, earth, and space. All the directions, like east, west, south, and north, are governed by specific elements. Vastu Shastra guides us to organise an area within a structure based on the functions of these elements and their relationship with each other.

Vastu Shastra states that different gods control the different directions and thus supervise the particular sector of the house. For example, south-east (Agney) is governed by the god of fire. Therefore it is suitable for the kitchen. You can consume the power of elements from nature by utilising the different spaces in your house by sticking to the Vastu guidelines.

The scientific basis of Vastu Shastra

The knowledge of Vaastu Shastra has been passed from generation to generation. Though it states that a mythological entity governs every direction, Vastu Shastra has a firm scientific basis too. Vastu Shastra involves the use of natural forces like sunlight, air for ventilation, and the magnetic field of the earth to create a house with an ample of positive energy. Some of the core principles of Vastu Shastra take advantage of earth’s energy field to organise energy level in your home. Vastu Shastra effortlessly combines Vedic science with architectural technology.

Vastu is more than just Vedic science. The relation between Vastu Shastra and architectural technology is eternal. The developers of Vastu had abundant knowledge of construction technologies and structural engineering. The same concepts are being used in modern architecture to design houses. In a way, the Vedic concepts are the same, only the way to approach them is changed.

Benefits of Vastu Shastra

When the five elements are managed in living space, the result is a clutter-free house that improves your psychological and physical health. The clutter in the house attracts negativity, and by removing it effectively, Vastu Shastra provides you a way to live a peaceful life. The house built by basic Vastu for home is filled with positive energy and peace. The ample of positive energy in the house promotes the relationship between every member of the family.

Along with managing natural forces, Vastu Shastra guides about using colours in house. Every colour has specific effect on human life. When colours are used by considering the directions, these colours bring health, wealth and prosperity to your house. These colours work to maintain financial stability in your house. Once the financial part of the house is stabilised, taking care of liabilities like home loan or educational loans becomes easier. Dwellers of such houses eventually enjoy a harmonious life.
