A claim ID is a 10-digit number automatically generated six months before a subscriber's superannuation date or 60th birthday. This claim ID is mandatory to initiate an online NPS withdrawal at or before maturity. The Central Recordkeeping Agency (CRA) issues the claim ID, allowing the subscriber to start the withdrawal process through the CRA system.
If the subscriber initiates the withdrawal request, the Point of Presence (POP) will authorise it in the CRA system. For premature withdrawals, the subscriber must obtain a claim ID from the POP to file an online request. If a withdrawal request is made without a claim ID, a notification will inform the subscriber that the withdrawal is not allowed. Funds can only be withdrawn through the CRA system after generating the claim ID.
