Launched in the year 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is nothing less than a blessing for individuals looking to purchase their own house. The PMAY scheme intends to provide affordable houses to approximately 2 crore individuals by 2022. In order to encourage a greater number of people to avail the benefits of PMAY scheme, the government has announced various subsidies on the interest rate on housing loan. This not only decreases the overall cost of borrowing but also reduces the repayment burden of the home loan for the borrower.
People belonging to the following income groups can avail the benefits of the PMAY scheme:

Individuals who already have a house registered under their name, or under the name of any family member won’t be eligible for the PMAY scheme. Additionally, if any family member of the applicant has already availed central assistance from the Government under any housing scheme, their PMAY application will be rejected.
Therefore, it is advisable to check the PMAY scheme eligibility beforehand to avoid the chances of claim rejection.
